Camille Fontenoy studied classical painting conservation at the Louvre laboratories before establishing her private atelier near Saint-Émilion. She uses seventeenth-century Flemish glazing techniques, preparing her own tempera grassa and applying thirty or more microscopically thin glazes of walnut oil to achieve translucent depth that glows under gallery spot illumination.
