Elena Voronina studied ecclesiastical gilding in Vienna and contemporary painting at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Her works synthesize Gustav Klimt’s ornamental transcendence with the severe spatial purity of Agnes Martin and Lucio Fontana. She utilizes genuine 24-karat Florentine gold leaf, hand-water-gilded with bole clay and burnished with natural agate stones.
