Customs-bonded facilities in Zurich, Geneva, and Luxembourg are experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand for dedicated private viewing salons, according to data released today by the Swiss Freeport Logistics Association. Over 38% more transactions were executed directly inside bonded facilities in Q1-Q3 2026 compared to the previous calendar year.

The shift reflects changing collector preferences. Rather than shipping delicate museum-tier masterworks across multiple jurisdictions for viewings, international buyers and sellers increasingly utilize neutral, high-security viewing suites equipped with museum-grade lighting, biometric security, and on-site forensic labs.

Bonded transactions allow title deeds and certified SHA-256 provenance records to transfer between parties with zero customs friction and total confidentiality, while preserving the works in archival conditions maintained at 20°C and 50% relative humidity.

"Private salons inside freeports are becoming the premier venue for nine-figure transactions," confirmed Zurich wealth advisor Beatrix Steiner. "It offers total peace of mind for both institutions and discerning private collectors.
